AI-Driven Education Startup VideoTutor Secures $11M Seed Funding Led by YZi Labs
YZi Labs, a $10B asset manager tied to Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, has spearheaded an $11 million seed investment in VideoTutor - an AI-powered edtech platform founded by 20-year-old Kai Zhao in Silicon Valley. The funding round saw participation from ByteDance-linked JinQiu Fund and Baidu Ventures, marking YZi Labs' maiden AI software investment since expanding its mandate earlier this year.
VideoTutor combines large language models with Manim-based visual production to generate personalized, animated tutorial videos. The platform targets inequities in global education access, particularly for standardized test prep like the SAT where U.S. students face $60-$90/hour tutoring costs. By democratizing high-quality instruction through AI, the startup aims to serve millions of learners priced out of traditional private tutoring.
